Designing your garden

Step 1 - Design Consultation

Upon making an enquiry with Octopus Garden Design, Director - Gerrad Everson will arrange a meeting with you on site to view the garden and establish a brief of what you are looking to achieve, including an analysis of your garden's potential to meet your individual style and expectations.

Step 2 - Design Proposal

Following this meeting, we'll prepare a Design Proposal which outlines the time and fees involved to provide an accurate site analysis and detailed concept design drawings.

These may include B&W Plan, Colour Plan, Plant Schedule, Lighting Schedule, and images of recommended plants, paving and garden features. The Design Proposal will be mailed or emailed to you - generally within a few days of the initial meeting.

Step 3 - Site Analysis

Upon the proposal being approved we will arrange to measure and photograph your garden to a high degree of accuracy (unless accurate survey plans are provided) in order to begin our concept design stage.

Step 4 - Concept Design

The Concept Design stage will generally provide sufficient detail for the majority of gardens such as layout, lawns, garden beds, plants, paving, pools, barbecues, decking and lighting, depending on the project to be constructed.

Special features such as water features, pergolas, fences, gates and retaining walls may require additional construction drawings and specifications which would be quoted as an extra cost.

The refined concept plans will be presented to you for your comments and further refinements of the design can then be made.

Step 5 - Building your garden

At this stage you have the option to organise the construction of your new garden yourself, or have Gerrad manage the project for you. For more information see building your garden.
